Assumptions
- A full year of wages at one salary, taxed as withholding rather than as a settled return.
- The federal figure applies the standard deduction for the filing status you pick. Itemising, credits and dependants are not modelled.
- Social Security stops at the yearly wage base. Medicare has no cap and includes the additional 0.9 percent above the threshold for your filing status.
- A pretax retirement contribution lowers income tax but not Social Security or Medicare, because those apply to wages.
- City, county and school district income taxes are not included anywhere on this site.
- Indiana tax is applied to income after any pretax contribution, with no state standard deduction, exemption or credit, because the data layer does not carry them. A filed return will usually come in lower.

Income tax in Indiana
Indiana's state rate is 2.95 percent for 2026, one step in a legislated series of cuts heading toward 2.9 percent. It applies to adjusted gross income after the state's own add backs and subtractions.
Every Indiana county levies an income tax as well, from well under 1 percent to over 3 percent, withheld alongside the state amount and based on where you lived on the first day of the year. That county piece is often larger than the difference between Indiana and a neighbouring state, and it is not in the table. Anyone weighing an Indiana offer should add their own county rate to the 2.95 percent shown.
The page settles a full Indiana year and then divides it by the number of pay periods you choose, so a fortnightly figure is the annual net split 26 ways. On the federal line, $16,100 for a single filer or $32,200 for a couple comes off wages before any rate is applied. The 2.95 percent works from income after your pretax contribution and from nothing else.
